About
In 2008 Timpani brought the orchestral works of Philippe Gaubert to the world and was a resounding success, receiving the highest critical awards. The success of the first release has now inspired to release the next instalment in the Gaubert discography. Composed in 1941 this ballet tells the story of a young princess, who has been put under a spell and every night turns into a doe.

June 2010
As this well-played performance shows, Gaubert's romantic sensibility was enhanced by a refined appreciation of instrumental timbre. Gaubert, in this instance, resembles a sort of Gallic Glazunov. Nothing wrong with that, once in a while.

It is well-crafted, pleasant and expertly orchestrated...Soustrot's conducting is idiomatic, too, and one feels that no stone has been left unturned to present Guabert's score in the best light.
