Agnieszka Marucha is an outstanding young violinist whose beautiful and precise playing is complemented by the unusual choice of repertoire on this disc. Until very recently no one took an interest in or even remembered Zygmunt Stojowski's works: a late-romantic composer and pianist, he has been forgotten in his native Poland (probably because he spent most of his adult life in the United States) and only his symphonic, chamber and piano works have hitherto been available on disc. The Sonata was performed by the most distinguished violinists of the time, including George Enescu, Jacques Thibaud, Sasha Jacobson and Pawel Kochanski.

Agnieszka Marucha's playing suits this repertoire perfectly, combining eloquence and technical security with a warm and full sound.
