But it's Ileana Cotrubas's sweet but determined Louise who made me fall in love with this opera...
2011 edition
Ileana Cotrubas makes a deligthful heroine, not always flawless technically, but charmingly girlish. Placido Domingo is a relatively heavyweight Julien, and Jane Berbie and Gabriel Bacquier are excellent...the ensemble is rich and clear.
