About
On the 100th anniversary of the death of Haydn in 1909, six French composers, Ravel, Debussy, Dukas, Hahn, d’Indy, and Widor were invited to participate in a composition project. The result: A “Hommage à Joseph Haydn”, six compositions for piano, commissioned by Jules Écorcheville. Now in 2009, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Haydn’s death, the following far more extensive composition project has been launched: D2H – DedicatedToHaydn

The Haydn Trio Eisenstadt…bring the experience of recording all 429 of Haydn's folksong arrangements to these commissions. What this means is dedication to the cause, and a mutual ease of ensemble even when confronted by the onslaught of, say, Torso IV by Márton Illés. John Woolrich does something different with The Night will not draw on, and brings its unassuming texture back to life as though a friendly ghost had wandered into the room.
