Leonid Polovinkin (1894-1949) was a tireless animator of the Russian avant-garde in the 1920s. He then became the official musician and the companion in life of the great Natalia Sats, who founded the renowned musical Theatre for Youth in Moscow - which commissioned Peter and the Wolf. He composed numerous operas for children, ballets, film music, but after Stalin's reign, the war and his premature death, he was forgotten.
