Melodia is one of Iceland’s most remarkable music manuscripts. Written in 1660, it contains 223 songs of various kinds: folk-songs, hymns, polyphonic chansons, and Gregorian chant. This CD contains a fascinating selection of music from this long-neglected document of Iceland’s musical heritage, performed by Icelandic singers on period instruments.
