Glenn Gould defined himself as “a composer who plays piano” and his String Quartet in F minor recorded here is his “Opus 1”. By coincidence, MacMillan, Canadian composer and conductor, was on the podium when 15 year old Gould made his debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. This CD brings us Macmillan’s String Quartet in C minor and Two Sketches based on French Canadian Airs.
