Not even the 17-year-old Mozart, had composed a string quartet of the elegance, inventiveness and pathos as the three Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga produced at that age in Paris in 1823. Stylish, beautiful accounts.
The charm and coherence of these chamber works, beautifully played by the young Casals Quartet, suggest the scale of Spain's (and our) loss.
