A third release by Antichi Strumenti devoted to the little known music of Christoph Graupner, (1683-1760).This new CD comprises world premiere recordings of two orchestral Suites composed by Graupner in 1730 and in 1749. In Der Geberalbass in der Komposition by Johann David Hienichen, Graupner's friend and school companion, we find the basic axioms of Baroque composition technique, according to which the composer must refer continuously to the rules of rhetoric.With Graupner the construction of the musical text remains based on these precepts learned and perfected through experience.The present-day interpreter of Baroque music must adapt to this environment: he needs not only an understanding of the Baroque language, but also the technical knowledge of each individual instrument. All these elements are combined in a French dance style by a German composer with deep Italian influences!!
