About
This recording represents the first release of a disc devoted exclusively to the young Swedish composer, Britta Bystrom. Impressionistic minimalism comes in as a somewhat contradictory ‘double label’ for those who yearn for labels, then this might just be a possible description of her musical world. Britta Bystrom does not write program music, but the titles are openers. They are doors left ajar. From her earliest work of 1996 A study in Scarlet though the percussion piece The baron trees to an aria from her chamber opera If you lose your luggage a musical journey of discovery lies ahead.
