Stradivarius are proud to announce a first co-production with the Teatro alla Scala, Milan. It's a live recording of a concert held last October during Italy's most prestigious festival of contemporary music: Milano Musica. The ensemble of I Percussionisti was formed in 1978 at the suggestion of Claudio Abbado.The name refers to the theatre where they are based and carry most of their activity. John Cage: "Maybe there's a link between poverty and music". Percussion instruments inhabit the whole world, also and especially in its poorer parts. A meeting of cultures that provides fertile ground. None of the composers considered here spared themselves the risk of such a clash. None indulged in facile exoticism or folkloristic effects.
