No strangers to the Hänssler Classic catalogue, the Amadeus Duo return with a disc of double guitar composed specifically for their talents! Aficionados of guitar music will find familiar names in the composers whose works are presented here. Those NOT familiar with these 20th century masters are in for a treat! Zenamon's “Carisma” takes the music of 19th century guitar virtuoso Carulli as it's point of departure, but expands upon the inspiration by way of Villa Lobos. Composer Carlo Domeniconi's offering is a return to the Mediterranean influences he has enthusiastically made his own. The program's highlight however, is a very special concerto, commissioned by the Amadeus Duo, from the composer Richard Dyens. Beloved by guitar players, Dyens is best known for his haunting “Cavatina” that was used in the film, “The Deer Hunter”. This is a gorgeous disc, enthusiastically recommended to anyone desiring a few moments of peace and beauty in our troubled times.
