Haenssler Classic is proud to announce the latest volume in their survey of the music of Charles Koechlin. Born on 27 November 1867 in Paris, Koechlin came from a large family full of inventors, engineers, industrialists and artists. Koechlin attained his inimitable musical style in the period after 1910, predominantly through his chamber music, which is characterised by its fluid polytonality and its break with traditional harmony. During his extremely creative period from 1910 until 1921, he composed almost 50 works. His piano cycle »Les Heures persanes« op. 65 (1913-19; orchestral version 1921) and

Piano Quintet op. 80 (1908-21), assured Koechlin his place in the French musical avant-garde. The current recital presents a colorful a 50-year overview of Koechlin’s sinuous and utterly Gallic style. The present recording contains TWO World Premieres!
