About
Here is another instalment in SKARBO’s enterprising exploration of the music of Normandy-born Aubert Lemeland. Previous discs have included his impressive cycle “Songs for Dead Soldiers” (DSK2338 – sung by Carole Farley and conducted, like this new CD, by Marc Tardue) and his 10th Symphony (DSK2025). Now we have the opportunity to hear first recordings of Lemeland’s 8th and 9th Symphonies, as well as ‘Battle Pieces’, an instrumental work again inspired by poems written by American soldiers fighting in Normandy – highly individual music, by a true original.
