Following on from chamber music by Schaffrath, Heinichen, and Fasch the Epoca Barocca ensemble return with a selection of sonatas and trios by Italian composer Giovanni Benedetto Platti.

Less well known than some of his Baroque contemporaries, Platti’s music has always been overshadowed but CPO is giving this virtuosic composer the recognition he deserves. His musical oeuvre is distinguished by a strong feel for structure and form, melodious imagination and a lively, elegant style. He was a forward thinking composers, whose works were often tainted with pre-classical features, associated with composers such as Haydn.
