This is an entertaining disc of 20th –century sonatas whose well-springs range from 19th-century Romanticism to jazz….It’s (Proto Sonata) a fine, attractive work, in which Dalla Torre produces beautifully
shaped legato playing in the first movement, complete with the odd elegant portamento, and proper slapping pizzicato in the jazzy second movement.
