Awards and reviews
I can hardly think of another CD, except the first in the series (NI 7851), which is likely to convince people that it is worth putting up with ancient sound for the sake of eternally fresh singing and interpretation. In fact this second album is for me still more captivating. I know all of these performances well, but listening to them again in Nimbus' excellent transfers I was transfixed, not to say transfigured. A superb choice of the greatest singers
