Poldowski is the pseudonym for Regine Wieniawski, the daughter of the famous composer and violinist.

She decided to assume another name as both a cover for the association with her father and to temper the wagging tongues of the Parisian aristocracy who might have disapproved of her for her choice of career. The 27 songs collected together on this CD illustrate that ‘Poldowski’ had a natural talent for composition and a true understanding for the soprano voice.
