Awards and reviews

December 2007

…this unusual version of the Goldberg Variations… but for a double-reed quartet of two oboes, cor anglias and bassoon… gave a unified sonority and texture while encompassing the entire pitch-range of the original harpsichord score. It is superbly played by its original performers, in a lively and sympathetic acoustic, and there is much to admire in the artistry of these four players.

Janurary 2008

The two oboists operate in the most seamless fashion possible, complemented by the two lower winds' propensity for characterful interplay. If you fancy Goldberg Variations transcriptions, you'll certainly enjoy this vividly engineered release.
