About

All of the music on CD1 shares a common tone and key, that of A minor and is melancholy in both mood and mode. This disc is called “Exequy” after the central work on the disc; it means “funeral song” and indeed is an apt description of the music throughout. Sinfonia Lacrimosa is a meditation on the theme of sorrow and movements one, two and four are reflective and slow paced. The third movement provides balancing energy and passion. Sinfonietta is a single movement work on a large scale.
