Described by Bayerische Rundfunk as ‘the queen of the baroque oboe’, Xenia Löffler was born in Bavaria in 1972 and trained in Basel and The Hague; in 2001 she was appointed principal oboe of the Akademie für Alte Musik, with whom she has recorded Platti’s Concerti Grossi after Corelli and Venice: The Golden Age (a collection of concertos by Tessarini, Marcello, Giovanni Porta and Vivaldi), as well as joining Isabelle Faust for JS Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin.
