The Belgian early music ensemble Vox Luminis was founded by Lionel Meunier in 2004, and came to widespread international attention in 2012 when they won Record of the Year at the Gramophone Awards for their recording of Heinrich Schütz’s Musicalische Exequien on Ricercar (their contribution to the Martin Luther anniversary in 2017 on the same label was also nominated for a Gramophone Award, and won the choral category at the BBC Music Magazine Awards). Their discography also includes Buxtehude’s Abendmusiken (with Ensemble Masques), Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Bach’s Actus Tragicus and Purcell’s King Arthur (all on Alpha), the Fux and Kerll Requiems and Scarlatti’s Stabat mater on Ricercar, and Keiser’s Brockes-Passion on Ramée.
