Mihoko Fujimura
Japanese dramatic mezzo Mihoko Fujimura was born in 1966 and trained at Tokyo’s National University of Fine Arts and Music and in Munich; she made her Bayreuth debut (as Fricka) in 2002, and returned to the Festival on a regular basis over the next decade. She is particularly associated with Wagner and Mahler, though her repertoire also encompasses Verdi’s Azucena, Amneris and Eboli, Bizet’s Carmen, and Strauss’s Octavian and Klytaemnestra.
