Grigolo concentrates on Italian repertoire, with key roles including the Duke in Verdi’s Rigoletto (which he sang on location in Mantua for a film-version of the opera opposite Plácido Domingo in the title-role), Cavaradossi in Tosca, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor; more recently, he has also had great success in the title-roles of Les contes d’Hoffmann (‘his is a rare vocal talent matched to a star personality’ – The Telegraph) and Massenet’s Werther opposite Joyce DiDonato at Covent Garden.
