Last Friday, acclaimed young British pianist Thomas Kelly released his debut album, Ad Nos, on Rubicon Classics - a bravely conceived collection of organ works transcribed for piano by virtuoso composer-pianists including Busoni, Liszt and Hough, delivered with a level of command commensurate with his recent success as second-prize winner at the Liszt Utrecht piano competition.
Ahead of the album release, we were delighted to welcome Thomas to Presto Music for an evening recital in which he performed music from Ad Nos, before sitting down with Katherine to discuss the themes running through the album, his approach to recording, his relationship with the music of Franz Liszt and the other transcriptions on the album, and his plans for the months ahead.
